Our skin care company has been in operation since 1996. We were originally producing a line under a different name, essencia, which was sold primarily in California and the western states. A few of our established accounts were with: Nordstroms, Whole Foods, Erewon, Mother's Markets, Fred Segal, Pierre LaFond, La Peer Beauty Beverly Hills, Planet Blue Malibu, Burke Williams Spa Los Angeles, Marriot Desert Springs, and Day Spas throughout the country.
We also held accounts with a few select boutiques/markets in the New York area: Integral Yoga on 13th in NYC, Jill Seherer in Roslyn, Edge of the Woods in New Haven, Wild by Nature Market in East Setauket, and Mrs. Erbs in Denville, NJ. Our coverage in the Midwest and Florida was minimal, but solid.
In 2000 we sold ouressencia formulations, and began private labeling for other companies and a select clientele. Since then, we have consistently kept researching and developing ideas for our current line metamour.
Suzannehas been in business since 1991. Originally, she opened 2 retail shops in the Ojai, California area, under the nameEARTHWORKS. The shops specialized in imported gift items, organic clothing, and aromatherapeutic lines of essential oils, lotions and bath/body products.
EARTHWORKS was well received in the Village of Ojai, supported by its popularity, and its nucleus as a community gathering spot. During this time, she was inspired to design her own line of skin care, due to continual requests from customers to bottle “the wonderful scent” of her store, which was a combination of citrus (she sold organic citrus at the counter), beeswax (the store was stocked with honey beeswax candles), vanilla (pods of Madagascar Vanilla were placed thoughtfully throughout the retail space to keep the air fresh) and Jasmine (Suzanne always clipped a bouquet of Jasmine, a favorite scent of hers, from her garden, and kept it in a vase by the cash register)! This outstanding collection of scents was “bottled” and soon to become a part of the skin care line, with its trademark EARTHWORKS store fragrance. It was sold at the shop, gained customer recognition, and eventually received press in InStyle Magazine, where its national launch began.
By 1995, the line took off, and by 1998, she decided to close her shops and focus her efforts on the continuing popularity and demand for her skin and body care products, sold under the name essencia®. It was available all over Southern California, nationwide Spas, and the New York area (see Company Profile for more info). By 2000, she sold her brand name, along with its formulations. She continued to work in the skin care industry by designing and selling blends to small independent companies, and a select group of clientele. Over the past 22 years, she has researched and sourced unusual blends, using the purest ingredients that can be found – Organic Certified Botanicals, along with rich and nutritious base elements, harvested both from the U.S. and Europe.
In the Spring of 2009, was the launching of metamour skin care® – a brand new line that carries one of the most coveted essential oils in the world of aromatherapy, IMMORTELLE, or Helichrysum italicum, from Corsica. This full spectrum oil has been extensively researched in Europe and praised for its remarkable and noteworthy results, when used as part of a daily skin care regimen. Suzanne has developed a simple 4 part system, that has already received positive feedback and customer loyalty from its fledgling introduction. This is metamour's signature line. Since then, 2 more lines have been added: BOTANIQUE and ESSENTIALS.
Suzanne loves what she does, and finds inspiration in the beautiful environment of the Ojai and Santa Barbara, California areas, in which she lives and works.
